In this hands on, two-hour long class, I'll invite you to gently explore the ways you bear witness to the closing of a life and teach old methods that protect the sacredness of that space for yourself and others.

By providing vital information about families' legal rights, engaging in constructive dialogue, and sharing practical tools for preventing unnecessary emotional trauma in the midst of bereavement, together we can consider what's possible when we stand at the gate with intention.  

Together we'll conjure an entirely different way of being with death.

simulate family directed body care with hands on practice for skills such as mouth and eye closure, wound treatment, temperature regulation, washing, anointing, moving, and shrouding.

Lauren Richwine

Lauren Richwine is a published writer/photographer and was one of the first death doulas to serve in the Midwest (although she still resists putting any title or name to the work). 

She received her initial mentorship with the Earth Traditions Death Midwife Program in 2018 after keeping vigil at deathbeds with Heartland Hospice. Death Done Differently was formally launched in 2019. 

Today she is a trained ACP facilitator through the “Respecting Choices Advance Care Planning” Program with Parkview and maintains membership with the National Association of Certified Death Midwives (NACDM), the National End of Life Doula Alliance (NEDA), the National Home Funeral Alliance (NHFA), and the Indiana End of Life Alliance.
